Put your hands together, Meet the Dougallers welcomes Erin Hough from our Belleville office! We wanted to find out a little more about Erin and what got her into the insurance industry. Check it out!

Place of Birth? 

Born in Newmarket, ON but moved to Belleville when I was young.

Hobbies? 

I have been involved in Dance from a very young age and still love it today! I also enjoy going to the gym, great stress reliever. However, my favourite thing to do is walk my dogs! Say hi to Archie! Good boy alert…

Favourite food and why? 

Pizza – all types of pizza are great, dominos, wood-fired, homemade, pizza bites, you name it I’ll eat it!

Favourite saying? 

That’s showbiz baby – Taylor Swift (probably)

Favourite movie and why? 

21 Jump Street because it makes me laugh every time. “They’re teenagers, man. They’re really stupid, so you should blend right in.”

One thing we should know about you?

During the Covid quarantine I made a tik tok about doing a murder mystery game and it received over 3 million views. The product sold out in Canada.

How did you get involved in insurance? 

After graduating from St. Lawrence College for Advertising & Marketing I started working at the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario as part-receptionist and marketing. After working there for three years and meeting so many different amazing brokers I finally decided to “join the dark side” during the pandemic.

What do you bring to the table to help your clients? 

Growing up in Belleville I am familiar with the area as we are getting lots of people moving from the GTA to this area. Additionally my time spent working at the IBAO helps me to explain the industry better as insurance is something that is a foreign topic to most.

What do you think is important in a relationship with a client?

Building trust with each other is very important. We need to know as much as possible in order to insure your most precious assets properly.

Favourite sports team? 

The Cincinnati Bengals because they have Joe Burrow. And my fantasy football team because I have Joe Burrow.

Favourite Celebrity? 

Taylor Swift – probably. We forgot to ask her this question.

Anything else you would like to add? 

Being a part of the McDougall team is awesome because there are a ton of volunteer opportunities to help our own local communities. We also have an exciting and collaborative culture and it truly is a great place to work.
