Motorcycle Routes in Ontario
For many in Ontario, the best way to see it all is by motorcycle on the open road. Whether you are a short day tripper, or you plan for longer rides, there are plenty of routes to choose from, giving you the best that this beautiful and vast province has to offer.
One thing is for sure, you want to be fully prepared before you head out. Check your bike over, and then check it again. Have your permits, maps and insurance papers ready and check the weather too. Whether you are heading out solo, or in a large group, you need to be prepared for whatever may come along the road.
Ontario is home to some of the best biking loops around. Here are a few to get you started…
Ontario’s Southwest – this route is lakeside. Cruising the shores of Lake Ontario, you will enjoy the beautiful beaches, quaint little towns and stretches of farmland too.
Ontario’s Highlands – every biker likes a route that twists and winds around beautiful scenery. Riding through the picturesque Ottawa Valley, through Lennox and Addington and the Haliburtons – this route will be one ride to remember!
The Kawarthas – With two of the most popular cycle roads, Northey’s Bay and Buckhorn, this route is a must for every rider. You’ll enjoy the twists and turns that take you through Historic Ontario and all along the Trent-Severn Waterway.
The Algoma ADV Loop – this route includes some off-highway and some on-highway riding. This ride is for the adventure seeker for sure.
The Northwest Loop – This route is considered one of the most awe inspiring rides for all motorcycle levels. If you are looking for lots of company and traffic, this is not the ride for you. The quiet; the solitude stand out on this journey.
Georgian Bay Coastal route – well known to seasoned bikers, this route takes you around Georgian Bay the Grey-Bruce and over to Manitoulin Island. This iconic trip continues past two of Ontario’s beautiful beaches and up the Niagara Escarpment.
Ride the Edge – This one has it all. Algonquin Park, twisty roads on smooth pavement and the scenery is second to none. This route has a short or a longer loop depending on how much time you have.
The Temiskaming Loop – This route takes you through North Eastern Ontario and into Quebec. It is an easy running route and is home to the Bikers Reunion.
The Grand Algoma – Truly the open road experience, this loop has it all. Great expanse, great views, it is the all-around experience any biker is looking for.
Lake Superior – For most bikers, this is on the bucket list. No minor trip – this route requires months of planning. Taking you through the mountains and valleys near Marathon and continuing with views of Lake Superior – this one is a trip of a lifetime.
