Our Travel Trailer Insurance Coverage
A travel trailer is a term that gets used loosely when it comes to insurance. Not to be confused with an RV or motorhome which are considered a motor vehicle and require their own auto insurance policy. If you are looking for RV insurance click here and select Get an RV Quote. A travel trailer is not a motor vehicle and in order to be moved, needs to be towed by a motor vehicle. Some travel trailers actually remain stationary. This is why we have different classifications for travel trailers.
For travel trailers we have 3 different classifications:
Travel Trailers
If you hitch your trailer to a vehicle and tow it to different locations we consider this a travel trailer.
Park Models
If your trailer is permanently parked and used seasonally we consider this a park model trailer.
Mobile Home
If you live in your trailer as your full time residence, year-round, we consider this a mobile home trailer.

Travel Trailer & RV Insurance FAQ’s
No, you are not required to carry insurance coverage on your travel trailer. A travel trailer is not the same as an RV so it does not fall under the same insurance needs. When towing your travel trailer the liability extends from the towing vehicles auto policy. However, once the vehicle is parked you will not receive the coverage extending from the automobile. This is why we always recommend carrying a separate liability insurance policy for your travel trailer.
If you allow guests to rent equipment or boats on your campground or resort you can carry coverage to protect against any damage that the guest may cause. Your deductible will apply so please review your policy and speak to your broker if you have any questions.
If your campground has commercial appliances on premises you may want to carry equipment breakdown coverage on your policy. This would cover the cost to repair your commercial appliances such as an oven or deep fryer if they break down because of a mechanical or electrical issue.
If your campground has a restaurant or bar that serves alcohol on the premise then you must carry liquor liability coverage. Employees must be licensed to serve alcohol as well. Our experts can help you navigate your policy to ensure you have the appropriate coverage.
