Help Save My Life
Spay Neuter Kingston Initative is a non-profit organization and their goal is to improve the welfare of cats in the Greater Kingston Area by spaying/neutering their managed colonies to reduce overpopulation. They partner with local veterinarians in order to perform the procedures and they have fixed over 1,050 cats to date. In addition to fixing their managed colonies SNKI assists local animal shelters by providing reduced cost surgeries and raises funds to fix the pets of low income owners. The $5,000 McDougall Family Fund donation would go towards further stabilizing managed feral cat communities in the surrounding area to improve the quality of life and reduce overpopulation. Kids R Kool
Kids R Kool is a non-profit organization that sponsors individuals, teams, and families in various sports. This sponsorship allows underprivileged families to get the funding that they need to participate in sports that they would not be able to otherwise. As well as providing sponsorship, Kids R Kool purchases Christmas gifts for underprivileged, local children. In 2016 they purchases 155 gifts for 46 kids! Kids R Kool raises money by giving rides in their late model car at the Brighton Speedway. However, they would like to have a greater impact on more children and cannot with the funds raised from the rides. With the $3,000 Family Fund donation, Kids R Kool would provide sponsorship to more local kids. To learn more about Kids R Kool, check out their Facebook page.
Highland Animal Relief Team (HART) – SNIP Initiative
The Spay/Neuter Incentive Program (SNIP) aims to provide financial assistance for the spay/neuter of dogs and cats that belong to low income families in Bancroft and the surrounding area. The program works effectively to severely reduce the number of unplanned dog and cat pregnancies, which in turn reduces the number of unwanted pets that end up stray or in rescue. However, because Hart receives no government funding, the SNIP Initiative is funded solely by donations and fundraising efforts. With the $2,000 McDougall Family Fund donation, HART plans on putting it towards the SNIP Initiative to spay/neuter as many household animals as possible for families that cannot afford it. Check them out on their website, Facebook, or Twitter to learn more about the awesome cause.
