Top Brokerages in Canada: McDougall Ranked #2

Every year the insurance industry recognizes some of the names in the industry who are excelling in different categories. These awards span all of Canada and can range anywhere from best customer service brokerage, to best advertising campaigns, to most digitally innovative, to the top brokerages in Canada. There are a ton of amazing insurance companies out there (and a ton of not so good ones). At McDougall Insurance we have been fortunate enough to be nominated for several categories and were even more fortunate to have won a handful of them. Let’s have a look at some of the highlights.

Top Brokerages in Canada

Insurance Business Canada released their 10 Top Brokerages in Canada for 2017. Similar to last years edition, we were recognized again as a top 10 finalist. This is an amazing accomplishment and something we were are proud of. However, this year we improved even further earning the number 2 spot for all of Canada. The award focuses on 11 key business areas to determine the applicants (full list can be found here). The criteria ranges from things like revenue and growth, to number of clients, to number of employees. McDougall Insurance lead the way in 5 of the 11 categories as you can see below. Needless to say we are very honoured and thankful to have been awarded the 2nd spot for the Top Brokerages in Canada and want to thank our employees who work very hard to make this possible, our top level management who carries out our vision and provides the tools to make this possible, and most importantly our clients, without them this would not be possible.

Digital Innovator of the Year

The insurance industry is at a crucial point in time where clients now expect their insurance in a different way. Other industries such as retail and banking have changed how they operate and how their clients interact with them. Insurance is working towards doing the same. With so much new technology available and even more on the horizon, it is important as an industry to embrace these changes and leverage them to provide a better experience for our clients. Over the past year we have experienced a drastic change at McDougall Insurance. We redesigned our entire website, added a 24/7 claims and self serve portal, integrated a Chatbot on our website and yet we aren’t satisfied because we still know our customers want better.

We received the digital innovator of the year award and are very excited and proud of this accomplishment! However, we know that as an industry, in order to do better for our clients, we have to continue building solutions and enabling our clients to give them the experience they want. We take a lot of pride in the fact that we are a traditional brokerage where we do our best to build relationships with our clients and treat them as people, and technology doesn’t prevent that relationship, it simply provides another avenue for our clients to build that relationship with us. We believe that thanks to the fusion of traditional and digital, a phrase we like to coin as tradigital we are one of the top brokerages in Canada when it comes to servicing our clients and growing with them.

Excellence in Community Involvement

It has always been a philosophy at McDougall Insurance to be involved with the communities we are a part of. This year we received the Excellence in Community Involvement award. We participated in over 150 events this year with our staff volunteering or our branches sponsoring their community. We also run our own initiative called the McDougall Family Fund where we give out $10,000 to local non-profits or local projects to help them contribute to their community.

The Dougallers Awards

McDougall Insurance also hosts some of its own, internal awards. This is where we like to recognize some of our own staff members who have done an exceptional job over the past year!

Commercial Producer of the Year

Nick Enright was awarded the Commercial Lines Producer of the Year for 2017! Nick has received this award three years in a row. He writes more insurance than anyone in Canada and despite having less volume than he did in 2016 he still had an exceptional year in 2017. He focuses primarily on writing large transpiration and trucking companies.

Personal Producer of the Year

Darren McCaskie was awarded the Personal Lines Producer of the Year for the 3rd year in a row! Darren works very hard for his clients and had another exceptional year in 2017. He focuses primarily on writing home insurance and car insurance, as well as all of those toys we have come to know and love like boats, ATVs, snowmobiles and motorcycles insurance.

Financial Service Producer of the Year

John Enright Jr. was awarded the Financial Services Producer of the Year for 2017! John Jr. works hard for his clients and had another exceptional year in 2017. John focuses primarily on group benefits and was able to help some major clients over the past year develop a great benefits plan.

New Producer of the Year

Louis Meehan was awarded the New Producer of the Year for 2017! Louis focuses on the commercial side of insurance and transitioned from our Kingston UCC office to Oshawa earlier in 2017 and hasn’t looked back. His speciality is in the manufacturing and metal fabrication world where he has helped many clients find a solution that works well for them.

Branch of the Year

Pembroke and Deep River Offices were awarded the Branch of the Year for 2017! These offices are a part of tight knit communities and they both have great relationships with their clients. 2017 was an exceptional year for them and we are eager to see what 2018 has in store.
